Amundsen+ update

Featured Replies

Good morning,

Just curious as to what the most up to date map version is for the Amundsen+

I know mine isnt fully up, going by how long a few roads i use have had speed limit changes, but when i put my VIN into the skoda update thingy it told me it cant be done remotely i need to get an SD card.

I knew about the SD card, im also quite sure i dont have it...

So, part 2 is, assuming my maps are quite OOD, how do i get around the "no SD Card with my car" issue to do an update??

The Skoda update portal isn't applicable for your car I'm afraid. It only applies to some MIB headunits found in newer cars.

On the Amundsen+ (RNS-315) the maps can be updated using a 'one-shot' SD card. Basically, the headunit will copy the maps from the SD card to it's internal storage then wipe and lock the SD card so it can't be used in other headunits.

The latest version is V11 but many people have had issues with stability after updating as it appears to cause the headunit to restart occasionally.

The latest 'stable' version is V9. A dealer will probably charge almost £200 for the SD card. Cheaper cloned/pirated cards are also available but I have no experience with them.

The process of "assigning" the new maps card to the unit simply writes a small file called "device ID" to the SD card. The maps remain on the card and can be reused on the device again if needs be. If you can unlock the card and access the file structure then you can delete the device ID and use the card on a different unit.

I'm not sure how, but the issue with rebooting has something to do with the geographical location of the unit ( or perhaps the language) and it seems as though it's only the UK which suffers the reboot issue. Same maps, same units will work (for example) in France.

If Mac is in Ireland then this could be an interesting test.
