Speed limiter issue

Recommended Posts

Hey, this issue (image attached, exclamation mark at the bottom of the display) is occurring maybe 2-3 times per week, prevents me using the speed limiter until I key off and back on. Car seems fine otherwise. Any ideas what it is telling me, or even better if there is a known issue or fix?

No idea, might be worth getting it scanned? The car's still on warranty, so unfortunately I think it's a trip back to the dealer!

If you have cruise controll  is that working ok. If only speed limiter looks as if the ! Is a fault warning. Turn the on/off switch on and off a few times might just be a dirty contact Joe

No cruise on this one, only limiter. Seems to only do it part way through a journey, when it restarts from a stop-start event.

I'll jiggle the switch and see if it goes away.

If not, I will give the dealer a call, just my experience with dealers is they tend to skirt around issues like this until you give up and go away!

The dealer is probably the best bet if all else fails especially if its still under warante Joe

Just a thought- my mum had a Mk.5 Golf with cruise, and the switch on the top of the indicator stalk wasn't very good and would sometimes give up until the car was turned on and off again. Never got it fixed (she never really uses cruise) but apparently it was relatively common for those cars to get gunk on the contacts. Could be something similar? The Golf didn't have an MFD so can't be sure if it was popping up a code!

I have seen this previously on a couple of Skoda cars. In both cases it was the switch. But it can also be a software glitch which requires a re-flash of the ecu. In either case it's easy to fix by your dealer. Make sure you take your phone with the photo of the issue showing on it. That may be enough for them to take action.

Thanks for that feedback, very useful.

I exercised the switch a bit to make sure that it was crud free, and it hasn't done it last couple of days. I'll see how I go and if it comes back I'll seek dealer assistance.

Cheers all B)

I have a Mk 3 fabia SE 2018 with front assist, and keep getting the LIM! error.  The handbook says contact a specialist. The dealer knows of 4 fabias with this issue, and interestingly all are DSGs.  There was a code logged and subsequently sent to Skoda UK technical. Waiting for Skoda to report back to dealer, as there are no technical bulletins relating to this issue.  The error seems to pop up after a stop/start event, but can't be 100% certain on this.

A quick update. Dealer phoned me on 06/03/20 to tell me that Skoda were already aware of this issue and were investigating it. I asked for an update on 24/06/20, and am waiting for a reply. I have now proved conclusively that this problem occurs after a stop/start event

Hi both,

Did you get any further on these issues?

My Skoda Fabia SE Drive TSI 95ps (70 reg) has just got this issue with LIM! displaying on the dashboard and unable to use the speed limiter.

Any help or advice from your past experience with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Buy a can of switch cleaner, apply liberally, work switch re-apply, work switch. wait for next recurrance.
