Android Auto stopped working

Featured Replies

AA has been working perfectly with the wife's Samsung phone for nearly a year but now throws up error message: "The device can no longer be used as a source in Media".

Something must have changed - some update on the phone most likely.

Phone is Samsung (sorry, don't know model it is wife's phone and not with me at the moment).

Any ideas?

Have you updated the wife recently? :giggle:

looks like you are trying to connect to mirrorlink.  Try going to settings and select the default to be AA.

No, it has never worked by mirrorlink, always via Media. It is now saying it won't work with Media so use Mirrorlink.

How do you access AA usually?  I press the right knob and then smartlink or AA depending how far the phone has got into its loading cycle.  Sometimes it comes on automatically when plugging the phone in.  I have never accessed it via media as I didn't know that was possible.

I had problems with AA this morning on my Pixel 3 - it seemed to think I had an active call and just kept giving me a similar message.

I unplugged the phone, rebooted it and it then worked fine again. I had a ton of app updates overnight, so maybe one of those upset it.

I will have to check with the missus to see what she does. As far as I know she just plugs the phone in via USB and it works (worked).

I'll update when I have more info.
