How can I remove CDs from Autochanger?

Featured Replies

Am in the process of fitting an Android head unit, I need to remove the CD's from the autochanger in the boot (I had a Stream audio unit) and its not responding to any of the button pushes, I have the ingnition on but am only guessing as to what to do, I suspect that I should have done this before fitting the new head unit.

The new Adroid unit wont talk to the auto-changer and i now realise that what I should do is copy the CD's to the micro SD card hence my need to get them out of the autochanger.

I will be removing the autochanger and the big plastic bracket as its no longer needed and it will give me storage space so I dont mind taking it apart if I can remove the discs that way.

Anybody know how?

On my MK I it was a big cassette which could be removed without power, this one swallowed the discs on at a time.

Can you not temporarily reconnect the radio to get them out???

Otherwise, yes, dismantle it to get them out, if you not trying to sell it.

Probably not worth anything nowadays.......

Yes it appears that it needs to be powered from the Stream head unit.

Didnt really want to be dragging the unit in and out any more, its cramped and congested behind it and I have already broken the Fakro aerial connector doing so :speechless:

Multipin plug connection, 12-pin

1 -Data CD out (in radio)

2 -CD-CLK out (in radio)

3 -CD earth

4 -Data CD in (out radio)

5 -not assigned

6 -12 V power supply (from radio)

7 -right channel +

8 -switched positive (from radio)

9 -Signal ground

10 -left channel +

11 -not assigned

12 -not assigned

So if you put +12v on pins 6 & 8 and a ground on pin 3 & 9  that should power up the unit to eject the CD's

Thanks for that, I bit the bullet and reconnected the original head unit to eject them but hopefully someone searching in the future will benefit from your kind posting!

I removed the whole unit and the triple bay plastic bracket locating it and taking up loads of space, what a horrible job to do without removing loads of trim, done now but would not want to do again, the top fixing bolt is the hardest.
