Team Heko Wind Deflector Problem

Featured Replies

I have just installed some Heko deflectors on my car. After fitting the clips up into the window channel(there were only two per window) i tried closing the window, it got about 2/3 inches from the top and started rolling down again die to the safety mechanism. This happened with both front windows. I did manage to get them all up after a bit of playing about however both windows made a terrible screeching/cracking sound just before i got the window fully up which i did not like the sound of. i didnt want to wind them down again incase they didnt want to go back up. So my question is, will this be a continuous problem & if so what can i do to fix it if anything? I was thinking that maybe i should buy some more clips?

I’ve got some on my car at the minute and no noises come from when I operate the windows. I’ll have a look in the next hour if you want where my clips are on the window. Think I’ve only got one per window

Okay thanks, I’ve placed one towards the rear and one towards the front of the window, i was debating on putting another on the vertical piece of front window(next to the wing mirror) but wasnt too sure about it

Sorry for the delay. Just had a look and took a couple pictures of the drivers side ( exact same on the passengers). Here is a few pics of the clip placements.

Also took a clip of the window going down & up on my phone. Sorry for the indivdual clips, uploaded direct from my iphone as I couldn't be bothered to put it on my computer and put them together :notme:

Thanks a lot mate i appreciate it, i decided to take them out completely and reinstall them and they seem to be working just fine apart from the passenger side sometimes goes up and down without me even pressing the switch🧐🤣 can you see the clips from the outside of your car? I can see my slightly as they dont seem to go up all the way and just wondered if thats how they were supposed to be or not?

You can just about see them if you are looking for them. I have genuine Skod ones on my fab, Heko's on a Yaris and as mentioned above, Never put clips on the Yaris. The drawback to that is that the adhesive tape eventually gives up the ghost and the deflectors start to sag!

I noe need to put new adhesive tape on them and tif them again but have yet to bother. (It does make them easier to nick). As for the window dropping etc, this is usually explained in the instructions...

Fit them and gently wind up the windows, bit by bit until fully raised and then, the important part, leave them alone for 24 hours, more if possible. This less the adhesive do its job properly. If the deflectors were fully inserted and the windows raised fully, the issue of windows dropping should be eliminated. It is actually a safety feature to prevent body parts getting trapped in the windows but the car does not realise it is just the deflectors.

The noise you heard was possibly the clips being pushed further in or the plastic deflector getting wedged between the clip and the glass. If the clip was pushed in properly, it should not do that.

There will be a slightly different noise as you have added a few mm of plastic to the closure but it won't be too bad and you will get used to it, even forget about it.

Dirt will do the same thing, kind of grind/crunch as the window shuts or starts to open so keep the glass and the deflectors reasonably clean.

Thank you very much for your input i appreciate it, i think all my problems seem to have disappeared after leaving them to set in place for a day!

I had this issue when i fitted them its the safety thinking something blocking windows, they eventually get used to them being there and ive had no issues with mine for ages
