Tried to crimp either side inwards, no luck!!

 

2nd pic is close up of inside the clip.

I mean it looks easy, but I’m must be missing something. Obviously they can’t be designed to just ‘pop out’ being a major safety feature.

Come on people. It’s just a clip.... 😆 

I was told that on an Octavia II, the dealers have a toolkit with "special" tools for the removal of the airbag clips. A friend got a friendly breakers to remove them from his crashed car. There are tools you can find on the net for getting them out - this is just an example that claims it covers VAG cars and looks like what the breakers had. From what I remember, they had an angled thing that looked like a screwdriver. It had to be inserted, levered and then twisted to release either side of the clips.

Just to follow up here. It was as simple as using long nose pliers inside the little circles, and crimping inwards & pulling outwards, which is not too easy in the space.

 

Now, I need 2 more of these retainer clip, or similar. Any ideas?

Does anybody have 4 spare clips or know where to get some from? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
