DSG dry dual cluch

Featured Replies

hello, new here.

got my first skoda Octavia 1.2 2015 and wanted to ask about the dsg gear.

how is it in this year? can I enjoy it for couple of years? (let's say 150-160 km total) without any issues?

and another question, my warranty end in July 2020, ca  I extend it for more??

Positives and negatives about these DSG boxes especially the dry clutch type. What options do you have now. I would have asked these questions before I purchased the car. Ask the dealer about warranty and extended on the box. See what they have to say.

@eliran

There are no known issues with your DQ200 DSG other than those VW / Skoda know about, so you can buy a Skoda Warranty when the Manufacturers Warranty Expires.

Just check it covers the DSG.

It should but then people (members) have bought one, had DSG failure and Skoda / VW / Warranty seller has said 'Known issues' and rejected the claim.

So,

check if your cars DSG needs 'Service Campaign' 34H5 carried out, and if so was this Software Update done.

Skoda / VW then should not be able to have any issue regarding 'known issues'.  They will have said 'All OK'  or a Main Dealer / Approved Repairer will have.

As it is they built and sold the cars, if they don't know who does.

Unfortunately the 7 speed dry clutch DQ200 has the reputation as being the most problematic. I've had 5 and 4 of those have required warranty work and all under 30k miles.

You should check that all recalls have been done and investigate what warranties are available although I doubt any warranty company will cover a 150000km DSG and the clutches are classed as wear and tear items.
