Insurance sanity check

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just got the renewal back for my fabia 1.4 TDI S 75. Comes in at £285 for 15k miles and me and the wife to drive.

So I thought I'd throw in a quick sanity check as it's higher than the wife pays for the same cover on a golf 1.6 TDI S.

Thanks

Which Company?

'Renewal'  might be the key word.  Taking the Michael with a 'Renewal' price is not unusual.  Get Quotes from insurers wanting your business.

It does seem high, but then we don't know any details such as yiur driving history, age, etc. The best way is to use 2, preferably 3, price comparison sites, then compare direct with Direct Line.

The issue is I've used two price comparison sites and the cheapest was £337.

This seams high but maybe that is just a function of the modern insurance industry. All those people with dashcams and ULR driving up the price.

I'd suggest trying Quotemehappy (Aviva).  They knocked my last renewal into a cocked hat.

Also Sheila's Wheel came good for us this year saved around £50 on both policies compared to Quotemehappy.

I was with Aviva for three years then they started to get lairy even though my record was spotless and had been for ten years. So, off to LV who I knew could be a good bet. Their quote was £185 albeit for around 5k miles and driveway parking, so they got the job. Mind you where you live and your job can make a difference and I do not commute.

Or MTAs (mid-term adjustments).

My existing insurer want £197 to change my cover from a Ford Focus ST3 to a Kodiaq VRS for the five months remaining on my insurance term (which includes a £40 MTA fee).

I can get a full year's cover for the Kodiaq for £173 from another insurer.

Guess what I'm going to do?
