Hi guys im thinking of remap my 1.6 tdi mk3 what you think 

What another filthy, dirty, stinking, oil burner, tuned to be even more filthy, stinky & burn more oil.

 

Why not, I mean WTF could it hurt ?

Wt do recommend to put it up 2 standard is 105bhp

Better to buy a 1.4TSi and map it to 200bhp.

People buys these car for what they are...... Work horses not performance cars.

I never understood the logic of buying the version with the smallest Diesel engine if you want more performance.  When better stock versions are available.

 

Logic is like choosing Ryanair then taking a Fortnam’s hamper onboard for your meal.  Why ?

There are many reasons to remap an engine. My mk2 1.9 had a warm start issue and it dumped all the boost in one big lump around 2k rpm. The remap solved both and also made it a much nicer car to drive.

Ive put it for work as i do taxis but the the 1.6 sometimes lack power up hill so thought a little boost of 30bhp should sort it out 

A remapped ECU transformed my 1.9 105 TDi into something that no longer dissapoints me that has the overtaking grunt when needed and more low down torque and driveability, stock it was such a dissapointment compared to my MK1 1.9 110 TDi that I was going to resell it and find another MK1.

 

I can only speculate as to why they would have sold something that performed so badly in the first place.

What do you recommend to map it to

Different engine, different car so cant help you.

So at least you don't have to worry about the torque limit on the dsg.

 

The 1.6tdi will remap easily enough to 140PS.

 

It's best to speak to a respected tuner near you own location.
