Door Clip Spring..Where does it go please?

Featured Replies

Hello to all. I was a previous member on here but lost all my log in details! My mate and I finally got my front passenger door open on my Skoda Fabia 1. Managed to break a window regulator clip, but luckily it can be replaced. The lock is working manually for now. I just need to know where this clip ( Where the orange screwdriver is pointing to) goes in the locking mechanism. It looks like it would go into the latch above it, But it does not seem to be the case. The bottom part seem to fit and the spring fits in the plastic housing, but we can not work out how the rest of it goes. Thanks in advance for any help. IMG_0061.thumb.JPG.76547eb384c4e1a5c2f0ea785f75b346.JPG

The spring is in the correct position. It is designed so that it can be hooked into that gold coloured lever to hold it back to aid fitting the short bowden cable and prevent incorrect fitting of the cable but I have had no problem with fitting them without using it.

I tend to put the spring in the nearest bin. Are you intending re-fitting the lock? Is it working electrically? A cheap chinese replacement from ebay is only around £25 and will work for a couple of years.

Thanks for the replies. Great info. We have put the lock back in for now, and it is working manually. I just need a window regulator plastic clip that snapped while breaking into the door panel. The lock works OK now after being banged with a screwdriver. Does anyone still recommend changing it?

Yes change it, you'll be VERY sad if it suddenly deadlocks itself permanently.

With mine it started with a 50/50 chance of working, then it completely broke.

If you buy a chinesium copy, it might brake after a few months (happened to me)

What broke in my copy lock was the "inside tread" (sry, english isn't my first language) in the one marked by a red circle.
The one in metal is from the original lock. Ended up mixing the two and have been working for almost a year so far.
