Do VRS hatch springs work OK on an estate? - No they dont.

Featured Replies

Well having fitted VRS hatch suspension to my estate in the hope that the difference in rear end weight wasnt going to be all that much I've come to the conclusion that its not really a good thing to do. The Eibach website lists the rear as being 20kg (IIRC) heavier on the estate. Now 20kg isnt really all that much so I thought I'd give it a go.

They've been on there about a week now and they really do make a difference to the handling, especially rdeucing nose lift under acclereation. You only really notice the difference if you look at the car side on too.

I guess it looks like it'll be getting a set of VRS estate springs for the rear when ever some become available

I don't see the problem

Is it just a bit low for you, cos I think it looks ace.

Its not too low for me, it just looks like there is a little more space between the top of the front tyre and the wheel arch than there is at the back.

But thats the case with a lot of cars. Mine does too... Gimme 5 and I'll upload a piccy.

A pic of a VRS estate from side on would be nice - but I cant find any :(

What difference does it make at the front with a drive and passenger in?

Is it more even?

I dont get it

Thats how its supposed to look - the arch designs are different front and back on all Octy's - the front arch is rounder and higher and the rears are flatter in appearance meaning they sit nearer the top of the tyre.

The side sill of the vehicle is parralel to the gound so to me looks spot on

:iagree:

I did take some pics of mine especially, but they aren't very clear I'm afraid :o

The difference will come when you fill your boot up with stuff - then you'll know why you needed the extra 20kg.

looks fine to me but the more i look at it the more i can understand why you don't like it

Had 2 passengers in the back today and it does look too low with them in ther e- however, with a front pasenger and driver it looks much better

The difference in nose lift/dive under acceleration and braking makes it worth it though.

the arches are different you noob, its so you can steer without your front wheels hitting the arch!!!!!

the thing is phil i bet theres more than a 20Kg difference in weight between me and you. don't worry about it and get on with it!

I should point out that my under floor boot storage is FULL of socket sets, tools, torque wrenches, jack etc. at the moment which, I guess isnt really helping it

I've always wondered how your car looked so low Bengie - perhaps pie eating could be the new Pikey Mod for Octy drivers ? ;)

Several side-on pics on Rob Clubley's site - http://www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk/

Have a look at the sections on B and C pillar trims, and tinting.

It looks to me as though the sill is slightly lower at the front - assuming his suspension / wheels are standard of course

shut it phil you poof with your jap crap! ;)

yea yea, just because you arranged the RR day too soon so I wont show you all up....... does AMD's RR go to 300 bhp ??????

considering they do tuned RS6's and the like i would hope that they can cope with a 300bhp heavy tin can :)
