Coolant issues.? Headgasket? Vrs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

We have had some issues with out fabia vrs and coolant.

At first it was loosing a small amount but no leaks under the car at all.

Then slowly got worse. If you leaned on the accelerator then it lost a bit more..

We changed the expansion tank and the coolant cap.

I drove to cinema tonight and again the coolant light came on.

Topped up when we left. Drove home 15miles gently and the coolant level stayed the same..

I then took its for about 3 miles giving it the beans and boost.. And the coolant light came up and expansion. Tanks like this

The reason why we changed the bottle was because it was always wet on the outside. Guess can see why now it's coming out the lid.

Noticed there has been a lot of pressure in the system.

Any guesses?

I'm guess headgasket and I need to get a sniff test done

It's a 213k 2005 fabia vrs with full Skoda service history.

Thanks

Pete

Just change the HG and use PD150 bolts and you'll be good to go, don't waste your money on a sniff, they don't work so well on diesels.

Your symptoms are absolutely definitive of head lift.

Agreed with above.

Okay thanks..

Cost of doing the head gasket if doing it myself?

What parts req and is the a guide to follow?

Done plenty engine swaps etc in jap stuff. Not much on diesels or skuds

Thanks

Pete
