Door chrome

Featured Replies

While some of you guys tend to favour black trim l like the chrome. Having had an S model Passat without chrome on the doors and the next level up having it I would have thought my 18 plate SE-L Octavia would have. I've seen other Octavias with the chrome.... What models are these. Is the chrome trim something that can be added?

I think it’s more to do with Car colour, I mocked up Race Blue with Black Grill surround and Mirror Caps on Photoshop and didn’t like it - Chrome Grill surround and body colour caps stayed on mine.

It’s part of some option pack or other, it’s a paid extra even on the SE-L. I’m sure you could get the bits new from a dealer but I don’t know how much it would be.

That's what I've ordered on my vRS Estate,,together with the silver roof rails.I just prefer the old fashioned look!

...however the broker says the order has come up showing the grey diamond cut Gemini wheels because "they are the only 18" wheels they do now"

So we'll see if the chrome pack overrides this and if it comes with all silver wheels,or not...I didn't want the extra bumpiness of the silver 19s.

Strange how things go around. At ine point white cars were impossible to shift, then they became the big thing to have. Then people would pay extra for chrome, until black packs came along and we were tearing chrome surrounds off for black ones. Now we are paying for chrome again. When are black plastic bumpers coming back? :D

I realise it's only me wanting shiny bits, including silver wheels,I know most go for the black look now.

...strangely with Audi they have shiny standard and make you pay more for the black pack.

🤔

I dont think its just you, seems to be making a genuine comeback. Im realising how old I am that I notice these things

Just wondering how easy the chrome strips around the doors are to fit. Done a search and ebay one's stick on! doesn't seam very professional . I wouldn't want to disturb any door seals Skoda have so nicely put on between the top lip of the door and roof, probably to do with wind noise.

I think the chrome gives a classier look - especially with dark colours.

The chrome comes as standard in the highest spec Octavia ('SE Drive'/ 'Style'). For the other specs, it can be had as an optional extra (€149 in Ireland). If you are buying from stock, you will just have to ask the dealer if there is a model with it available in your colour.

I needed to have it. It looks great on the Quartz Grey.
