Rear pads

Featured Replies

My VRS has done 15 hundred miles

and a grinding noise is coming from the rear brakes(same noise as worn pads)

Anyone had any problems with brake pads on nearly brand new cars?

Vauxhall had that problem a few years back when brake pads were wearing out on new cars after a couple of thousand miles due to them using new enviromentally friendly pads with no asbestos in them.

Vauxhall changed the pads for free but never actually broadcast their problem to all new owners

I have this problem on both the Fabia vRS and Octy vRS. Sounds bloody awful every time I brake. I managed to get the dealer to change discs and pads all round on the Octy which cured the fault for about 50 miles and then the new set started doing it.

I have now noticed on the Octy that the discs are smooth from the inside until about 2/3 of the way to the outide and then the outer 1/3 of the disc is heavily grooved

Just another one of the many faults on our 2 Skodas

Ill see what the dealer comes up with on monday

Doesnt sound too good with you having the same problem

i had a similar problem and was told on here about a anti-squeal kit, went into the dealer and they cleaned the rear brakes but it was still there. went back and the mechanic had a look and said they were "like new" so couldnt be worn brakes and replaced them foc. car had done 8000 miles and now 3000 miles later no more problems but i have kept them cleaner. i think rust is a big problem on brakes if you leave your car for a couple of days.

hope this garble helps

The car isnt used every day

So it could be rust on the discs

and ive only noticed the grinding at the start of a journey before the cd player is turned on.

Im off on a hundered odd mile round trip tommorrow

So ill see if its making the noise when i get where im going

With a bit of luck it could just be rust making the noise:thumbup:

mine did the same, went to dealer and was told too go down a 60 mph rd and brake hard as the rear disc pads glaze, it does work after a few heavy braking sessions but does return again after a few weeks mate,

they glaze due too 0nly (i think) using 30% rear brakes under 30 mph something like that

hope this of help
