The unattainable front bumper foam...

Featured Replies

Hi there,

New to the forum, I own an Octavia Estate 2013 1.2 TSI Petrol (practical and cheap but struggles up a hill, anyway...)

Does anybody know where I can source the impact foam that sits behind the front bumper grill? pics attached.

A neighbour left their handbrake off and their car rolled into mine, the foam has split (as it should I expect) so I am trying to replace it.

I have tried Ebay and Euro car parts but cannot find the right one!

Can you not claim on their insurance?

The foam in the bumper is moulded in, as far as I know, and is part of the crash protection system. I would be very surprised if it was available separately.

I could but that may also increase my insurance... and it would definitely increase their's.

It doesn't seem to be moulded in as you can buy the part for other models. e.g. skoda superb part on ebay

It looks like it's a case of taking off the bumper and replacing the foam.

I'd say for a specific part like that a dealer would be the logical choice.

part number 5E0807248, shock absorber. £15.44 (inc vat) from hortons skoda 01522 508650 and they can get them in tomorrow

they are not moulded in but you obviously need to remove the bumper to do it. i have a thread on grill replacement with a how to. its a two hour job at most. The absorber just screws on with torxs
