Intermittent heater blower

Featured Replies

Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi elegance 2006. Heater blower works then stops, then comes back on intermittently.

Anybody got any ideas,  I've already changed the heater control panel.

@NCooke - Try replacing the fuse(s). It's cheap and it could be a "slow blow" or "load blow".

Do you have climatronic ? as there is a seperate unit fan speed control unit, if you have a basic setup then there is the fan speed resistor pack in the fan unit

It's stated as a PD, so unless it's a runout model, it will have Climatronic.

MK1 shouldn't have dual heater controls.

This is the fan speed module on the MK1 304504049_Octy1FanSpeedmodule.thumb.jpg.152e5219847d031f9277bf749074e59d.jpg

If you have a MK2 then the module is integrated in the fan unit and isn't a seperately replaceable unit according to the manual

It is a mk2 , is it the module that would be faulty. Many thanks

I would start by checking the condition of the connector on the fan unit before condemning the unit, it might show up on a VCDS scan if there are any other things that might be the cause

See the confusion then?

Not really, he posted on the MK2 forum (unless its been moved) and said his car was a 2006.

It was in the MK1 section before it was reported

When the heater air stops, does moving the blower speed control do anything, such as an increase in noise? There is no heater blower resistor on the mk2 unless an early 2006 model is a throw back to the Mk1. Speed is controlled electronically if I remember correctly.

Initial thoughts are that you may have an intermittent connection so, looking at the picture in the post above, wiggle wiring and connections next time you have a problem.

I'd put money on a poor connection to the motor, seen it plenty over the years.

Thank you all for your help and advice, I will have a look at the connections

I hope there may be some help for me - well my Yeti. Basically an Octavia with different shell! 2013 Climatronic both knobs turned to left indicates 'low' on the screen. Lovely cold fast air for 5 mins then a blast of searingly hot air for 30 secs to a minute. Then back to cold. That minute is enough to kill you when its already in the 30's !

Anyone any ideas?

Diagnostic check to see if the heater flap motor(s) are faulty, out of basic settings. Can’t be a temp sensor as LOW bypasses all that and goes for maximum cooling.
