Stop Start Button

Featured Replies

Hi,

Over the past few moths I have noticed the start stop button doesn't always work the first or second time of using, both starting and stopping the car.

Anyone else have the same issues? The car is only 3years old with 45k on the clock.

Is it the button/switch, is it easy to replace and what would the cost be?

Where can I purchase a button from

Thanks

Tony

I sometimes find it doesn't quite catch but I put this down to the fact that it only needs a short press and not depressing the clutch effectively.  A vehicle I drive  at work requires the button to be pressed for much longer and I always miss that the first time as I expect it to catch straight away.

I also have an issue with my start button which has steadily got worse over the last couple of months. Sometime I need to press the button several times to get it to start/stop. Mines a 16plate with 46,000 miles on the clock which I’ve had from new.

Fortunately I have an extended warranty so took in into my local dealer who have said they will replace the button. Just waiting for them to confirm this morning when the parts will be in.

However they did say to ensure I take both sets of keys in as they will need to recode them. As a result I expect that it could be quite costly if not under warranty.

I thought it was me but mine has slowly started to do the same.

Mine is only 18 months and 28500 km old. The button has been changed under warranty last week upon my request. Not normal to me. They didn’t look surprised. Problem seems to last over several months 🙄...

Yep, a common problem across all Skoda models with KESSY, and reported on most of the model threads here on Briskoda.

There won't be a dealer out there that isn't aware of the issue. Even if your car is out of warranty I'd be pursuing Skoda UK for it to be done for free, given the wide scale of the problem.

Hi Guys,

Problem has got worse and needs replacing. As the car is out of warranty does anyone know where I can get a new switch and fit it myself?

Thanks in advance.

Seems like mine has gone now.  2 months out of warranty...typical.  Is this something that’s easy to replace myself or is it something that my local dealer are still likely to replace FOC for me so close to the warranty expiring?

Getting mine changed at about 5 years old, don't know when it started malfunctioning slightly but it definetly did when I bought it. Costs pretty much nothing to change and a quick search on the forums showed plenty of topics on this subject so seems to be a reoccuring thing across the model range with KESSYs.

Sorry, i've got the wrong end of the stick here.  My engine stop start button is fine, it's the button to turn on/off the stop/start functionality next to the gear stick that is knackered.  Is that easy to replace and is it something i could potentially get done FOC at the dealers?

I drenched the button in wd40 contact cleaner...pushing the button inwards and trying to spray in. Did a few times and button fine now
