Brake light switch?

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all,

Reversed the car earlier and saw brake lights stayed on, with ignition etc off. I removed the fuse and re-inserted, which worked, but obviously something went wrong.

I'm assuming brake light switch is U/S, does anyone have a part number for one? Seem to be a couple of variants online - want to order one before taking old one out.

For info, it's for a 2006 Superb MK1 edition 100.

Cheers.

I didn’t think the brake lights had power with the ignition off.

Neither did I... But I'm assuming with a faulty switch, it causes the issue.

A lot of threads are on the forum that suggest this happens quite a bit, mainly on the Octavia sub forums.

Brake lights do have power when the ignition is off - change the switch , common fail

@bigjohn,

I plan on changing the switch, but looking for clarification in part number, as seems there are two variants.

Pretty sure you'll need 1K2945511RDW.

Around £15 for a genuine one, I should think.
