Issue retrofitting a rear view camera.

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

Me and my brother were trying to retrofit an OEM rear view camera to its Octavia vRS. The issue is, now that it is installed and coded via VCDS, there is no picture. VCDS says an error like "no signal" for the camera. We are pretty sure that the camera is getting juice.

Do any of you guys know what the issue might be ? Or how we can troubleshoot that ? because we have no idea if the problem is caused by cables not being in the right place in the autoradio, the signal cable broken, the camera not working, etc.

Cheers

Are you retrofitted brand new or used RVC?

I think it was new

Could you scan RVC module using any VAG device?VCDS,VCP,VAS?Paste this scan result here.

here you go

Are you have added 6C(RVC) modul in Gateway modules list? That have to be done as first.

Is that something that has to be done with VCDS ? I'll check with my brother if he did that.

Do you know roughly where this is ? In 17. Instrumentation ?

Yes.Can be done with VCDS.After open main screen VCDS,next Applications, next gateway instalation list, select  chassis, open instalation gateway list and add 6C(RVC)-save.Scan this modul and paste on forum.

The other thing you need to check is that the camera had the parametisation file loaded, otherwise it cannot be coded. The parameter file coding can only be done with VCP.

Where did you get the camera from?

First have to activated RVC module in Gateway and get answer what is wrong.Nearly 100% it's -"not ending programming "info after scan.

I do not understand how I am supposed to add the Module, when in Gateway instalation list there is no "add" nor "open" button

How can I check that such file is loaded ?

First, you need to add the camera module as detailed above. Then, go into the module long coding. If it shows as 0000000000000, then it does not have the coding loaded and will not work. You will need to find someone with Vag Can Pro to upload the parameter file. It will then work.

I know this as I've had to go through the process to get my OEM reversing camera to work.

After open last window click on Gateway Instalation List...VCDS finished scan yours car and show you what modules are installed.Find 6C (RVC) tick and save...done.Next scan in Select Control Module -6C.

Might help if you put up a link to the camera you have bought

as there are two types

Low line only needs coding in the 5F and Parking module if fitted

Highline 6C needs coding in the gateway

There is a very good chance that the camera does not have the parameter file loaded. You will not be able to code anything until this has been loaded. I had this problem when I purchased from them.

These are the faults he is getting on 6c, 19 and 5f. He'll try to look for someone with a Vag Can Pro
