Bright Headlights

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have recently upgraded my dipped headlight bulbs to Osram Silverstars which have made a huge difference when driving through the country roads at night.:) The problem was however, 2nite when driving back from my friends house I had at least half a dozen cars flash or put their full beams in my face (presumably cos my Silverstars are nice and bright)  . This is very frustrating as I am definately not hitting them with my full beams and they are in turn dazzling me :finger: :finger: .

Has anybody else on the forum had this problem and if so is there a possible solution. I have adjusted the level of the bulbs slightly but is seems to compromise the reach of my dipped headlights which is quite impressive. Even at doing this a few people still flashed.

Help please.

Cheers

Dip them even more... ie with the dipping switch near the light controls?

HTH or is that too simple?

I've never been flashed in any of my cars using Osram Silverstars so I'm guessing you've either set them too high or the bulbs are out of alignment? Never had any problems with the amount of road they light up either, although I have my Rallye 100W bulbs for full beams for when the roads are empty :D

I get that a lot with my standard bulbs..!

Are there any implictions to wiring looms/plastic headlight glass with the Rallye 100ws?

Was just wondering if the 80w would be better?

Cheers

I have had these in my furbie for almost a year [100w] . No problems at all. You don't have them on for a long period at anytime and the cool air on the plastic lens will keep the heat down ....They are excellent . So far so good..:)

yep me too

i dont get this uprating the fabias lights thinbg cos to me they are great to start with much brighter than all the other cars at work with the excpetion of the r32 but its got zenons and they aint that bright considering the extra cost

In contrast I've used them for long periods of time (up to an hour) and not had any issues at all. :D

Find someone with uprated bulbs and you'll be amazed at the improvement. :D

Chris

A colleague has them in his Saxo and has run some pipes to the back of the headlamps to direct cool air at the back.

Hi

The Silverstars give a more tightly defined pattern with a sharper cutoff at the top. I found I got flashed with the standard bulbs as well. Had 100w in for a couple of months with no problems. Longest I have had them on was about 20mins with no problem. The Halfords rally bulbs have a larger filament that gives better off axis illumunation than the standard bulb as well as being much brighter. The halfords Rally bulbs are UV filtered for use with plastic headlight lenses.
