Rear brakes on a 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi folks, did some searching but couldn't find what I need.

I'm looking to replace the rear discs and pads on my 2013 superb 4x4. Is it straight forward, looks like hub bolt has to come out to release the discs? Any guides kicking about.

Thanks

The hub bolt stays where it is. You will need an M14 triple square to get the carrier bolts out (which are tight and difficult to get on to) and a caliper wind back tool.

Thankyou. Had wheel off earlier and looked like the disc was held on by the hub bolt.

It’s not

Not long had my rear discs off (not 4x4) and as said the carrier bolts are tight and awkward to get at and that’s without the added drive shafts.

Mind I was working  on road side top of my drive, so access to a pit or lift would be helpful and easier for you

YouTube is priceless for a noob and should be high on the list of reference information.

This will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Get the parts and tools together first.

DONT USE THE CARS JACK, not safe and could fall onto you.

Use proper trolley jack and if you intend going under the car (which you will need to do to get a proper swing at the calliper carrier bolts), you need an axle stand.

If you don’t have access to these, prob best let a garage or mobile mechanic do it.

The M14 spline bolts were obviously already loosened in the video as you WILL struggle to undo them.
