Stubby Aerial - Great Reception !!

Featured Replies

After using many 'stubby' Aerials in the past, all of themhad a very poor reception. Even ones costing £20 :thumbdwn:

I have just bought this one from eBay costing £3.99 !! and it's reception is BETTER than the stock aerial fitted to the car ! Superb.

Looking good  Any plans to colour code the base of the aerial to make it blend in a bit more?

Funny you should mention that. I had plans to do this a while back, but the thought of over spray going over my brand new car puts me off. Plus, i'd have to mask the area, prime the base etc, etc - anyone else done it ?

Not done an aerial, but on my Scooby I did door handles, bumper surrounds and headlight washers all while they were on the car. Very easy (even I managed it!) and as long as you mask up well, there shouldn't be any overspray. Ironically, the spraying I did outlasted the professionally sprayed front bumper

modest eh ?

Well, based on the rest of the work the body shop did, I suspect even my cat could have sprayed up bits of the car better!

looks very nice, I'd agree the the base could do with being sprayed silver.

Does it catch the spoiler at all? And does the old one just come off with a good tug?

The old one didcome off quite easily, but guess what, I havn't lifted the tailgate yet  DOH.

Edit - just 'touches' spot on !

If you look on the spoiler on the little cut out. there is a piece ofclear plastic protective film to reduce chaffing. Mine 'just ' touches it. Never been a problem. As for painting the base. I would leave it

Now for the alternate colour scheme - I want one that's matt black, I don't want aluminimum as I don't think it looks right on the black car (it just stands out too much).

Reckon it would hold if I sprayed the alu one matt black using a spray can (pre-fit ;))

If you used aluminium etch primer you should be ok.

Hmm - might have to look into this :D
