Thankyou Dan for your quick reply. I have used Adrian flux in the past so will try again, thanks

Wouldn't bother. They came back with an astronomical price on my 184. At least twice the price of the cheapest.

ah ok thanks for letting me know, who do you recommend then

I don't think you've too bad a deal there tbf.

280 to 350 seems about right to me.

You'll do well to beat that.

No offense but they way the insurance industry works, you're asking an impossible question because what works well for one person could often be the exact opposite for another.  There are far too many variables for two quotes to be similar and everyone has their own insurance reuirements. Bottom line is you have to try as many insurers as you dare to get a good deal.

My advise would be:

1: try to obtain as many quotes as you can.

2: definitely use comparison websites but be aware that not every insurer is listed with these sites.

The most popular comparison sites are www.confused.com,  www.comparethemarket.com, www.gocompare.com  (there are others, use google)

3: Well known names to try that to the best of my knowledge do not participate in comparison websites are Directline and Aviva.

4: Make sure you're familar with the policy before you compare prices - what can initially sound a great price might offer less protection. A word of warning tho, that's not always the case - some of the really expensive policies offer no greater benefit than the cheapest.  There's no quick fix, you just need to do your homework.

Another tip is if you're familiar with cashback websites, you'll get a commission payment - just depends if the insurer is listed with them. I've had some ridiculous cheap deals in the past using this method.

I tend to change insurers every year but for my circumstances, Aviva have proved the best prices - even their renewal beat everyone else. Of course it's only when you have an accident you'll realise how good or bad an insurer will be. My car is currently being repaired after hitting a deer with no road sense, and I can recommend Aviva - all very simple and straight forward. However I've just bought a policy from LV who were able to offer a better deal using a multicar policy.

That seems about right. I'm mid forties &  have a 2015 vRS 184 - my insurance is £340 including PCNB & business use. I think you'd be hard pressed to get below £280.

Just renewed mine yesterday.  £218 fully comp with full no claims. 47 yrs old. I have used admiral the for the last 3 yrs.

As already mentioned above - It is impossible to get recommendations on insurance with one exception.

If you're asking a specific question about how you might be dealt with if you should need to make a claim - there will be plenty of people around who have had to do this and will be able to report back.

If you're on about actual price of insurance - there are quite literally hundreds of tiny criteria that make up your insurance quote, from your postcode, to the colour of your car - see the person above who recommended you didn't go to a particular insurance company? Good chance your quote might be 50% what he was offered, or you might get a quote for double.

This goes for every single insurance company - you need to maximise your quotes. go to the price comparison sites, find the 4-5 cheapest and then get a quote from them direct.

Then add-in those companies not on price comparison.

Finally Quidco or Topcashback - that can net you £50+ or rebates (never guaranteed however).

Huge variations on the comparison websites. I generally go for a firm i've heard of ,at the cheaper end, that ticks the boxes. Usually means accepting a £500 excess.

Yes the cheaper quotes will have silly excesses. I stick to  £150 overall. My PFL VRS 230 is around £300 with LV and csma discounts. Legal cover and  Class 1 business use. One of the biggest influences on cost is where you live. North East is fairly reasonable as car crime is lower than most urban southern places.
