ACC issue/bug??

Featured Replies

Hi All

To all those with ACC....

I think I have found a problem with mine and I get it every time on my trip to work.  It may need reporting as a bug?

I use the M4 and anyone that uses the part between M25 and Reading, will know there are a long set of roadworks.... the ave limit is 50 and ACC is great in this as the traffic slows and moves on again the ACC takes care of the speed and distance.  I do about 500 miles a week so this feature allows the feet to come off the pedals and (should) make for a easier drive.

However, I am finding that the system "sees" the car in front and does what it needs to maintain the gap and then for what ever reason, the system thinks the car in front has gone.....so the car speeds up...... the car in front has not gone anywhere and we start getting closer and closer and faster as it thinks it needs to speed up to the CC set speed.  I have had to take over before it gets to close.  The system does then "see" the car in front again, but then has to brake as it is to close.....

I would try and get an image, but I am the only one in the car so can't.

This could become very dangerous if I just let it continue and it now means I either don't use it, have to drive with my hand ready on the ACC control to stop it or my foot over the brake pedal.....

Anyone else having any issue like this??  Maybe a drive out with the dealer to show them.

Never had the ACC lose the car in front on a motorway. Only time it happens is on a very bendy bit of road (exiting a roundabout etc) when the car is no longer pointing anywhere near the car in front. And one isn’t really supposed to use the ACC for that sort of thing.

I suggest you ACC has a fault.

I find ACC to be extremely reliable. It never "lost" the car in front of me.

Only had that scenario once in 3 years think it just momentarily lost the car in front and speed up then brakes when a bit too close but had lots of front collision warnings kick off over reflective things, like a police car parked on the side of a roundabout and the odd highly reflective cyclist, which utilises the same radar unit.

I would get them to check it over.

As others have said, not had this happen.

Maybe try and jury rig your phone and record it?

This feature for me has made a tremendous difference to those crappy stop start ques..
