Airbag error

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

New member here, so I'm probably doing this wrong but today I turn my skoda octavia mk2 2012 plate (2L TDI) on and the airbag light came up and airbag error popped up on the dash. After looking on here to find a solution I checked all the obvious things like under the seats etc I then thought I should check the door I then came across a broken wire from the car to the door (see pic) and was wondering the best way to fix this can it be repaired or does it need to be replaced and if so what am I looking for. Sorry if this post isn't very clear I don't really understand electrics on cars and have no idea about airbags. Any help or advice would be great.

Two methods of repair

A new door wiring harness or a single wire repair using the correct repair terminal.

Common problem, mine done the same, local auto electrician soldered the snapped wire together and wrapped in insulating tap, been OK for two year touch wood

That's what I did as well my only problem is I have to now clear the fault. I will probably take it to a garage to get them to clear it. Unless there is another way.

Someone on here may help you for a pint ! Sure there's a list of people with vdcs on here who mabey local who could mabeys help

The only issue with soldering in the door shut is it makes for a very inflexible wire which is more likely to fail again, Plus possible resistance issues and the like and on an airbag wire that's not always the best.

That's not to say it wouldn't work, just it is not really a 'proper' repair.

Just speaking from my experience, mines lasted 2yr touch wood haha
