Will it buff out?

Featured Replies

It looks horrendous.

But it wasn't fast,  air bags didn't deploy and the damage appears to be one wing,  bonnet,  lights and radiator.

£1000 parts at least.

The car has been excellent and it'll be £3k to replace.

Interested in everyone's thoughts.

OOch, sorry to see that.

If you got the parts from a breakers and did it yourself it might be that cheap, genuine parts headlight alone (assuming Xenon) will be over half of that with vat.

Hmmm........write off :(

A bit of T-Cut and it will be fine. I'm a born optimist if that helps.

Very easy repair, take the insurance payout as it will be written off on the condition that you retain the salvage, it will be 40% of the payout figure after excess deducted, it wont be negotiable, the deal they have with the breakers who recovers it will be the 40% for the CAT A or whetever the minor damage category is, in truth the insurers dont have much liability at all and the salvage people get more than 40% back by reselling or breaking them.

Do the figures and decide how much you will be in pocket to keep your known and reliable vehicle properly repaired, allow a sum for an inspection for it to be insured again.

If you choose the above refuse to let the salvage/breakdown people take it away, both they and your insurers will be very insistent and tell lots of untruths, stick your ground, once its gone its gone for good until you see it on the road again with the new owner.

Insurance job. Looks worse than probably is.

New bumper, grill, bonnet, front panel (behind the bumper), halogen headlight, trim, maybe wing.

Insurance will use their approved repairer who use aftermarket parts, many are now from China. Cheap as chips.

Similar looking damage to one of our Fabias recently (badger crossing motorway at 2am)

Fully repaired in under a week.

If you ever want to change your username perhaps R & J or if you are both fit and strong RSJ if they haven't already been used.:tongueout:

Front off no damage to chassis - the front rail took some of the impact and the other car just rode over it.

Shopping list:

- Bonnet

- Wing

- Light cluster

- Bumper

- Radiators (not a/c)

- Grill

- EGR Valve

That condenser doesn’t look too special, may as well change it as it’s out, first thing someone will spot when you come to sell the car.

Much easier to clean your intake manifold flap out while waiting for the bits to arrive.

Always a bonus side.

The a/c still had full pressure so it's one job i want to avoid if possible.

I'm unlikely to sell on as i run my cars into the ground usually. I'm just looking to continue use of an excellent vehicle that i know and trust.

Just added a couple of extra bits to the list and found a black original bonnet for £100!

Total cost for parts now with post £908.

Thanks for the tips

At least you can get to the pressure sensor 👍
