vRS oil from a VW dealer

Featured Replies

Hi all, just read a thread on vRS using oil, and Ive just remembered I havent checked mine yet (one week old).

There's no Skoda dealership near where I work, but there is a VW dealer. Does anyone know if I can get a litre of 505.01 (?) oil from them ?

Cheers

Of course you can - the 505.01 is a VW rating!

Just make sure you don't buy the longlife oil:£££££££s!

GSF and EuroCarParts will also stock it cheaper if there's one near you or probably any largeish motor factor.

Yes , but it will cost you an arm and a leg. Try your local motor factors.

Yep, got mine from local VW dealership

In theory yes - but in practice maybe not. Believe it or not I couldn't get it at the Wrexham dealer when I called in one weekend.

I've only put oil in once in 20,000 miles - approx 270ml at about 5,500 miles...

The manual suggest you use 500ml increments doesn't it??? Not much use if you only need a dribble though I guess!

It does "instruct" that - but why I can't imagine. The only reason I can see for saying that is to prevent someone pouring in a whole litre in one go and overfilling it. I measured it in to get the level to exactly the top of the knurled section ( section b in Skoda-talk ) which took 270ml. I believe the dealer overfilled it somewhat at the 10,000 mile service so none was needed betwen that and the 20,000 one. The oil level after that service was lower than after the first one...
