Bluetooth phone problems

Featured Replies

I pick up my 2011 Octavia 1.8 tsi Elegance today.

After playing around sorting the sd card for some music to keep the family happy. I moved onto getting my Huawei Mate 20 Pro paired. Everything seems to work fine except when I either ring out or receive a phone call. I can hear the other person but they can't hear me. I have tried loads of little bits I have seen and a few YouTube videos but still no joy. Any ideas.

Thanks

Do other phones work?

There is a chance the bluetooth kit has been retrofitted and they forgot the microphone 😕

Might be worth getting a local member to scan the car with VCDS or similar to check for faults.

My wife has a Samsung galaxy S8 and it's the same. You can ring out and receive calls but can't talk back to them.

This is a wiring issue or microphone issue

Was the BT kit retrofitted

What radio do you have?

What radio have you got?

As far as I know it;s the factory fitted Bolero unit with the controls on the steering wheel.

you need to find out if the bluetooth has been retrofitted

OK thanks. Out of interest how would I find that out or would I have to contact the previous owners?

Have a look under the drivers seat to see if you can find the module, if you find it post up the part number.

another possible senario might have been that the car had a factory nav and the previous owner took the nav out and replaced it with the bolero

mic wiring would be different between Bolero and Columbus

As requested here is the module that's under the driver's seat.

Are you phones firmware up to date.  I had an issue with my S7 Edge Similair to yours in  my 2010 (With bolero) and they were resolved once i did the firmware.

I will check on that after thanks.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I CAN play my Spotify with the Bluetooth audio.

Tagging on to this thread with a generic Bluetooth question not related to the standard Skoda set up.

I have a flaky Chinese head unit that loves to sulk and reboot with the slightest input, it does however have blue teeth and I did once manage to sync my phone to it and make a call but of course it is not happy with that situation.

Whenever I get back in the car or even just turn the ignition off it loses the pairing and wont reconnect, I have to press the screen which if its feeling in a good mood will send out a pairing request again to the phone.

Should you have to do this every time? I have a credit card reader and runners watch both with blue teeth and they remain connected to my phone although the former does sometimes throw a funny and needs re-pairing.

Should it not keep the pairing details in its memory and remain connected/reconnect automatically and should my phone not store them as well?

I wonder what it's been eating to make them blue.... :giggle:

Probably. It just suggests little care has been taken in the testing of the headunit. Might be worth checking for an update although given it's a Chinese one, there probably won't be 😕
