How to handle/live with dragon green?

Featured Replies

I love my Brilliant Silver Superb, and have ordered the same colour for my Kodiaq. It's less common than you think when you look around a carpark now, looks beautiful and hides muck brilliantly. A fine choice!

  • @ColinD  Your wife is right: it's yellow with a hint of blue. Get it. You'll be able to pick it out in the supermarket parking lot. Embrace colour in this drab and increasingly tedious and fractured w

Yep I'm 95% on BS :)

Not that I'm fussed by any color... wearing a silver jacket... umm. But then most of my climbing clothing is green or orange... thank goodness they don't do orange ;) ( In the UK )

Yes...we know! :D

I've seen one brilliant silver Sportline, in my local dealership showroom.  If I had seen it at the time I was ordering mine then I likely would have given MG the boot and gone with the silver.  It's a lovely colour and really suits the lines of the car and contrasting black trim.  Makes the car look a little more classy too IMHO.

Are we done now?  This thread is starting to go the way of the Halloween movie franchise 😉

I'm also torn between Brilliant Silver and Race Blue for the replacement for SWMBO Karoq this time on an Octavia. Both nice colours, decisions, decisions.:D

@penguin17Yes done for wondering how to live with DG...

There is a whole department in the brain extrapolating a 272 6mth HCH 7DSG no MPI +dcc BS  or a 280 12mth EST 6spd MPI -dcc MW now :D

But down to two :D  maybe one ;)

one :)  done.

I'm for colourful cars as the trend of white, black and grey for the bulk of manufacturers is dull.

Having said this I do not like the dragon green on the superb though I did view one in a dealers showroom years ago and it looked impressive and eye catching briefly.

There is a metallic green lambo urus near to me and that works well though but the design of that car is less conservative than that of the superb.

Cracking thread and I am in a similar boat at moment too having seen a 2018 280 DG 4x4 DSG, but my biggest concern is it's location... Means a 1050-1100 mile round trip to just see it 😞 Reading your dealer let downs before you get there Colin has put the fear in me! I do think it would be a worthy successor to the Mk1 1.9TDi90 Octy though, shame I'd be basically giving it to a dealers though (so CBA with private sales anymore).

You should post your 5,555 points on the Odometer Thread like your speedo before someone else gives you a point.

Saw this DG estate in sunshine after showers last month near Leamington Spa and was so stunned I had to take a photo.

It is a lovely colour.

Too much for me and my blending in... that said Brilliant Silver isn't exactly dull.

@FUBAR what I did was in the end, drive one locally...  was half tempted but for an argument on price... then find the one and just go for it. The main dealers all seem to claim a refundable deposit now. The local guy just chased a sale. I reset the deal and asked for some new prices but they weren't that great so... went back to used ex demos, crap man maths but you know... yolo.

Treat it as a day out, or a weekend, find a show in the same town etc. Then if you don't like it, it's not a total waste.

There really isn't much between the 280 and 272 either.

So I'll join the other voices now, do it!!! DG is awesome, but not for me.

I nearly went for one of these having had that previously, but I couldn't stomach the extra £900 for it.

I've been too busy at work to consider embarking on the 1100 mile round trip and not expressed any interest in the specific one I've seen to the dealer yet. Since my post though with 69 plate coming soon the price dropped £500 then another £500 beyond 69 plate, last week. I'd have been happy to pay the original asking price tbh so this is driving me mad! I really want to just pull the pin, but it's a hard one to approach as I am essentially going to see and buy in one go and no way of hiding my intent as I'd need the vehicle ready to drive away in within 2 hours of arriving. That limits my haggling some what. I did fill out their online part ex valuation thing with all the details of my 18 year old Octy inc my post code and got a reply inviting me to pop in for a valuation..... Miffed right off at that generic almost fobbed off response. It has an inconsequential value in trading in terms, but It's a convenience and logistical matter. As if I would just pop down for a valuation gurrrrrrrrrrrr. Will call next week and start making some moves.

If this helps a guy at work who had owned a Black Mk1 Vrs Octavia on an 04 plate recently traded it in at a dealer for a 2011 Audi A4 S Line 2.0TSi saloon in Black with 65,000 miles showing. The Audi cost him £7,700 but the Octy was only worth £250 which surprised me because it looked in good condition considering the 160,000 miles it has covered.:speechless:

Exactly the same sort of boat, my 2001 has 74K miles and bar a couple of imperfections is in better condition than when it left the factory. Whatever I would pay for the car after a trade in price and some negotiation, I just consider both added together to be the trade in value off the list price to help me sleep better at night. This is how much I cant be bothered trying to sell a fairly low value car privately anymore. Plus it saves me the hassle of bus, bus, bus, plane, hire car and taxi to get to the other car. I can simply drive in drive out, more convenient. Kills me that the Octy has been the good second car for so long and I sold my last good car nearly a year ago and replaced it with another second car that on paper is the one to keep over the Octy as it needs nothing and has 25K miles and is £30 a year to tax... Octy will be due timing belt again shortly and costs £140 odd to tax, only do around 3K a year in it 😞

The Octy would go back to it's factory steelies with the oldest tyres on earth, head unit changed back, wind deflectors off etc. As I'd expect around the same sort of trade in offer £200-£300 but would easily get £500 off other car with that car included.

Pic of the Octy there now beading away in the rain 😞
