Help! need a new gearbox now!!!!!

Featured Replies

The most unreliable and costly car I have ever owned has just decided to eat its gearbox. At 50K this is just totally unaceptable, and I will never by another car from Skoda again.

However, before I can sell it, I need to get it to drive without sounding like a tractor. So, can somebody direct me to the cheapest place to get a gearbox for an 02 1.8T (150bhp).

I have been quoted

The VRS gearbox is identical and you may find someone here that has one available.

Someone I know once fille dthe gearbox with thicker oil to make it run quietly when he sold it ;)

Sorry to here that youv'e bought a 'pup', but I think you'll find that most on here are pretty happy with the marque.

Sorry, can't answer the gearbox question but I'm sure someone will be along to assist in a while.

Thicker oil!!!!!

I think it would need to be molten tar to get mine sold LOL

Glad the rest of you are not having the same problems as me. I would not wish this on anyone.

There is always one rogue car and fortunately Skoda doesn't have too many.

Have you tried local Scrap Yards or Recon suppliers?
