Driving Mode Reverting to Normal

Featured Replies

I’ve read a few times about the latest Superb, where the driving mode reverts to ‘normal’ each time the car is restarted. Indeed my own car (registered April ‘19) does it.

However, I had a 19-plate Sportline on loan from the dealer yesterday, and that was in ‘eco’ mode, but it stayed like that even when restarted.

Makes me think there must be a way of stopping it from changing itself.

My 67 plate superb does not revert to normal mode every time I restart.   I know that the DSG gearbox does drop out of ECO running, but I get that as the ECO mode disengages the gearbox and the car coasts along.

Skoda/VW do this to cover their backsides legally if something happens to the car while the car is coasting as its a mode the driver knowingly selects and not something the car can do by itself.

As you have the 1.5 with the cylinder shutdown eco mode as well as the DSG, it might be the gearbox why It drops out of ECO each time.

If the loan car was DSG and the same engine as well, then I am not sure.

Been using my dsg in Eco for the past few weeks and it has never dropped out of it.

Yes, but how old is it?

My ‘66 plate didn’t, but the ‘19 does. I’ve seen a number of people moaning about it, which is why I was surprised that the loan car didn’t.

I have a 68 plate, so 7 ,month old.

If i shut down in Eco, it will restart in Eco, the only thing that does reset is the Coast function, so i have to select Eco mode again if i want Coast.............which to me honest i dont like anyway.

On my MY2017, the mode is only saved after engine shut off and appears on the upper left corner of the Colombus. However, the ECU systematically drops down to Normal mode (whatever ECO or Sport mode selected before shut down). This can be seen on the upper right corner of the MOT, where the engaged gear is displayed. E1/E2/E3/E4... becomes D1/D2/D3/D4....
