MY20 vRS New Specs?

Featured Replies

Hi All

On the verge of ordering a vRS Octavia.

Skoda brochure states that any car ordered after June 2019 will be a MY20 car and have that spec. - but I can't find that spec anywhere.

What they seem to have done is remove the colour coded spoiler, instead it will be black ... not sure about that!

I was going for either a Superb 280 Sportline Plus at about 1 year old and 6,000 miles or a Challenge vRS Octavia ... the Superb is blindingly fast and 4x4 too, it's got lots of toys and a Pano Roof ... it's £28k and I would have to get a tow bar put on it.

The Challenge 'extras' were not of great value to me other than the DCC and Heated Seats ... I don't like the wheels and the other additions don't fire me up. But good value overall at about £26k. Add a sunroof and it takes it to £26.9k

So, back to a vRS and spec it up to what I fancy ... DCC, Heated Front Seats, Sunroof, Towbar, Race Blue at £25k ... but I suspect that this base model has been down specced to make the Challenge look better value? So, would like to see the spec of a MY20.

Usually the 'run out' model has everything thrown at it - seems not with Skoda?!

Minimal difference between the MY19 and the MY20, nothing of any great significance changed.

Last week of build is week 34 at factory. They have summer hols and retool for octy mk4.

Dealer says that they haven't been told to stop factory orders - and they get updates every Monday!

Do they shut for the summer where the Octavia is built?

And, Kenai, could you link me to the MY20 Specs you've seen please?

Mine may be the very last off the line - or I may get the MK4? :)

Can't link you to it but I have read the bulletin and there are only petty changes to the spec that I can't see mattering to anyone...EXCEPT it says the vrs245 manual is NOT now available.

My car ordered was built last week as a 2020MY and is a 245 estate DSG.

I quite agree about the Challenge spec not suiting everyone and I have gone for the options I wanted on the normal car.

I would say you need to make up your mind this week and get an order in and hope it gets accepted,as stated they can't be producing the old car as 2020MY for much longer.

MY20 spec is what is on the website at the moment and the configurator. Has been thus for a few months. Kenai is correct you need to get a serious shifty on. Don't know which dealer is advising you but some are woefully informed. Once the octy line is shut down. That is it for the MK3! You won't see a vRS Mk4 until 2021 due to fulfilling demand for other models before a vRS launch at a motor show at some point late in 2020.

Is it a black spoiler then?

Would make sense them to just produce a lot of black spoilers instead of colour coded.

Keep taking the tablets. You be fine!

Sorry to be pedantic but it's still the MY 2019 details on the configurator, refer to the small print at the bottom...not that there's much difference as I and others have said!

Very true ,George...but Autocar usually seem to prefer to big up the latest thing from BMW,Porsche,etc...and of course the latest EV having a range of about 10 miles.

Spoken with Dealer, still taking factory orders ....... new fly in the ointment - BREXIT!

Because the car will not be ready for 14 weeks, and a no deal may happen in 12 weeks, import tariffs will add 10% to each car from the EU! GREAT!

They say that I can pay the 10% or cancel my order - I asked about my deposit, they said I would have it refunded (I'm not convinced about that, but that's what they've said).

And, yes, the configurator is for MY19 - not MY20.

It seems no one can show me what the changes are ... so not sure how anyone can say they are minor. I would say a black spoiler is major.

LOL it was WLTP last year Brexit this year..

Would WLTP add 10% to the price?

The prices did change but wasn't 10%.. dealer excuses for delays or uncertainty basically

I see ... well 11 to 14 weeks wait I have been quoted to build my choice of options.

Which is slap bang on the Brexit date - and I can see a knee jerk reaction of tariffs being slapped on most things and me getting caught up in it all.

Those waits for factory orders are normal.

So just looking at the RRP price quoted for my car (was able to get on an existing factory order as VWFS got early MY19 build slots last year as its PCH at the pre WLTP price) vs identical spec RRP on the Skoda website today is some £2400 more expensive today.

vRS DSG with space saver wheel in Corrida Red. Even then WLTP added around 1 months delay to my car being ready.

The document is called "Skoda MY20 Summary of Changes." Not sure why your dealer has no access to this...other than him being bone idle.

Not sure how a black spoiler can be a deal breaker, given the cars have the other black bits standard, but can understand why no manual could be.

Here's some more for you, although it's not a totally clear in some parts...

1/Silver body colour nla

2/Grey seams on seats nla, only red.

3/Silver 18 and 19" wheels nla

4/Chrome pack nla

5/No removeable boot light

6/No badge on engine cover

There are a few other things, but obscure and too tedious for me,e.g change of coolant spec from G13 to G12 Evo.

So I stand by what I said...the changes don't amount to much at all.

I asked about this ~2 weeks ago when paying a visit to a local dealers

vRS manual petrol were all "just what's left in the system, no new orders" but DSG petrol versions were "orders still being accepted"

Thanks for that ... they are pretty minor. Of course the colour coded spoiler (in my eyes) looks better on the Race Blue that I suspect a Black one would - I'm assuming it's metallic black like the mirror covers?

Yes, that's what I understand - the Manuals are just what is in the UK anyway - DSG's can still be factory ordered. Thanks.

Drive a 280 4 X 4 hard before you buy 1, if its sporty you want you need to drive it too believe how much of a POS it is through the corners, totally unrewarding.

Extras add sweet FA to the value of a 2nd car so, if you order them be assured, you'll pay for them. The challenge is better financially.

Going into corners at NSL or above getting round on the right side of the white line and out again without drama and in control if you meet some Charlie (or Postie) in a FWD remapped tail out taxi is dead rewarding IMO.

Corner after corner and with nearest and dearest in the car.

I have driven one hard, no salesman in the car, he threw me the keys and said Enjoy!

It was extremely fast, handled well on corners and was a fantastic drive .. not sure how long you had in one?

I know extras add diddly to a car, makes it more desirable over the standard specs, but doesn't worry me as I keep them 10 years.
