Fabia VRS Diesel Mileage

At Xmas I crossed the 250K boundary and really was wondering how she would continue, especially as I had an engine management fault light on that would fail any MOT.

 

Managed to get that sorted but at an extortionist cost using a Bosch specialist.

 

Now running well, fully serviced twice myself since then using best products I can buy at the time.

 

Cant fault it really and enjoy driving it.

Mines only on 175k, 06 plate, from brim fill on the fuel tank are you getting 450-500 miles per tank fill or a lot less. If I use shell I can get about 514 miles a month use tesco and its late 450-470 's.

I think the PD was probably one of the last long lasting engines that VAG produced, before the added complications of DPF's etc. There should be no reason why they cant get massive mileages under their belts. Unfortunately they get sold onto owners who want to either modify the hell out of them or thrash them into the ground scrimping on quality routine maintenance.

 

I've just done 2500 in a week in mine travelling round France and that's done 170k miles now, I have no issues with trusting it to get me anywhere, but then again, it does get looked after properly, like the OP's car I suspect.

 

With regards to mileage, I fill the vent pipe on mine all the time and get 560 - 580 miles before the fuel light comes on, using supermarket diesel generally.

Mine used to get around 550 but now it is down to the 300 mark. That’s annoying and I’m working I’d to get to the bottom of it. 

Also only around 80k miles on a 2005

Always hated that textured plastic surround on the dials. Cheap and nasty that.

Yeah, I've never liked that either.
