Annoying dashboard creak

Featured Replies

My new 06 vRS has after 500 miles developed a really annoying dashboard creak that happens everytime I accelerate (even lightly) and also a bit while breaking.

It appears to be coming from somewhere behind the speedo display area, I've done the obvious things like pressing various parts of the dashboard to try and stop the noise but without any luck.

Any ideas? Hardly seems worth booking it in for something like this.

mine does the same when i turn the steering wheel.(some times)

I just give it a sharp tap above the central air vents, and that sorts it out for a bit in my car. :D

Yours is pretty new though, and you shouldn't put up with it if it's that bad, as it's got a warranty, you might as well use it;)

I now have three rattles/creaks:

1. Glovebox/lift-up tray (mildly annoying - been there from day one)

2. Driver-side front doorseal/door (very very annoying - developed @ 500miles)

3. where you turn the headlights on (mildly annoying - noticed today @2.2k)

Im gonna wait till its first service and get them all sorted then, along with the obligitory stutter @ 1800rpm, if still apparent.

No rattles for me (touch plastic ;) )

well, unless you count the gearbox vibrating when it's left in neutral!

I'm bored of saying this BUT......you will NOT find a car that AT SOME POINT won't creak, rattle or vibrate......and that my learned friends is a fact. Now, enjoy your cars and stop worrying about trivial things......turn the flamin' stereo up;)

bmw, toyota ,lexus, nissans, peogots, vauxhalls i have had more than few both old and new but none with no rattles like this skoda.

may be its just a skoda thing and build quality still

With regard to the door seals creaking, try getting the dealer to readjust the latch pins in the door frame. When I bought my 2006 Fabia it looked like two fo the doors where not aligned quite right (they didn't shut tight - maybe 2 or 3 mm out), but for the first 3000k, they didn't creak - so I didn't bother to get it looked at. Now they do, and it is driving me nuts. I don't have a service for awhile yet, but when I go in next I will get them to align the doors better. I think that will fix it up. Also, don't use any sort of silicone spray for the seals, this is what really started to make mine squeak and creak.

Based on what I have seen on Briskoda, I do think that the 06 cars are suffering from more noises and rattles very early on compared to earlier cars.

Ancient (V - 1999) Fabia estate here only rattle is the rear load cover when it is stored, if I reel it out no rattles at all great car and I agree the early ones are the best :rofl::thumbup:

Also take in to account that it might be the window rather than the door making the noise....... I had an ongoing prob with what i thought was the drivers door seals rubbing in the end it turned out to be the window moving slightly and causing the noise.....

There is a topic on here about it as another member pointed me in the right direction.

***EDIT*** Found the other topic HERE.

Cheers

Dave.

TY, I remember that post...
