lowering and the xenons???????

Featured Replies

hi

when you guys lowered your v/RS what did you do with the xenons?

is it no problem you have to fix it somehow?with they light the same or not?

thanks for any help

ivan

The Xenons seem to be on the lowest setting straight from the factory.

Even wihout lowering, some have complained they don't have the light coverage of halogen lights.

I've had mine adjusted (via VAG-COM ) after fitting the Eibachs.

so you have eibachs too.-25mm?right?how is it?

and the xenons are better after vag com or they stay the same?

I have the Eibach springs & dampers & they are far, far better than standard set up.

Less roll when cornering hard, but not too stif, which is better for me as I use the car every day.

The xenons are better now that they have been adjusted, but they are still within the legal range of alignment (got it done by a local MOT garage).

They get worse after lowering :weeping:

im really thinking about lowering it.do u have to change the dampers or the springs are enought for now?do u recommend eibachs or weitec or some other brand?

They get worse after lowering because the ECU thinks the car is higher up I suppose, it will just make the 'too low already' come closer to the car again & worsen it.

If the lights are properly adjusted (and it's worth doing IMHO) they're great. If not, frankly they're rubbish, especially for the money.

With regards springs/dampers - springs will do a fine job, it will wear out the standard dampers a little quicker though as they're designed to have about an inch more 'out' rather than being under the constant extra inch dropped. It just increases the pressure inside the damper and it's not dangerous or anything :)

I went for the Eibach set of springs & dampers via a GB here, but you could use KONI as well, or any other reputable brand. The Eibachs come designed to work as a set of springs/dampers, so I stuck with that for ease :D

Fitting-wise as you've got to take the springs & dampers off anyway the labour is about the same to do both springs & dampers vs just doing springs.

so you lowered your car and you didnt do anythinng with the xenons?what if u change them higher via vag com?

is it possible?somebody said it is.

Mine were re-adjusted by the dealer (they know I will bring it back post-service anyway as every time so far they adjusted them back to the factory, FAR too low setting, and I go back to get it sorted).

I've got VAGCOM myself, one day I will spend the time on learning how to do it following the instructions on the site here, and I'll go visit an MOT centre to make sure the levels are right.

You need something like VAGCOM though to set the system to maintenance mode so you can adjust the lights, then you tell the system to relearn it's middle position and it will stay put. If you don't do this the lights will revert back after manual adjust (apparently, I've not done it yet ;))
