Part worn replacement on a haldex car?

Hi all,

What do you reckon for for this scenario:

Front damaged tyre, needs replacement.

Other tyre on front axle is 5.6mm, rears are 6.2mm.

New tyre on 8mm of tread or two new tyres and pocket one as a spare?

2mm or 3/32" could be a fair bit of different rotation, not got the maths on me to figure out exactly what it is.

I know if it was a bigger difference it's a shockingly easy choice, two new tyres and rotate.

So early hadlex, this is a '19 car, early ones though didn't like differences and I know systems like torsen didn't like differences between axles. But a new modern haldex, is 2mm tread differnce a worry?

No worry at all.

The concern about different tyre sizes comes from all wheel driver/ 4x4 vehicles without a centre differential. Differing speeds front to rear causes 'wind up'.

The front and rear are decoupled most of the time and the ESP/ABS system software has to cope with such differences.

:) I thought that might be the case but... :D If it was a 25k question on who wants to be a millionaire, I may of gone for it ;)

The Haldex Gen 1 which was a mainly hydraulic pump had massive issues with different tyre size on the same axle and even across the car. The new ones are eletcronic and are fine.

Super thank you. the newest is on the NSF, as that's the one that for me at least historically has worn the most and takes the most knocks.
