Michelin PS4 225/40/18 Tyres

Featured Replies

Had 4 Michelin PS4 225/40/18 tyres fitted to my 245 yesterday with the pressure set at 35 psi.  What a difference it's made to the car, less road noise, better turn in, super super grip, improved braking and generally improved the ride.

These replaced the OE Bridgestone tyres fitted from the factory.  I'm actually surprised how big the improvement is.

That is all.

Having gone from factory PZero (225/35R19) to Michelin PS4S almost one year ago I'm not surprised by your reaction to what I believe is the best sports/high performance tyre on the market and until you try them people have no idea just how good they are. Just out of interest Andy did you pay less than £150 per tyre being a smaller size than mine?

Just out of interest, what is your thinking of having 4 new summer tyres in second half of August

As for noise, doesn't surprise me, discovered recently that changing a worn (and 4 years old tyre) with a new one, (which actually had a higher decibel rating) cut cabin noise. Can only assume it is because the new compound is not rock hard and rumbles

Due to being retired for 2 + years the weather is no longer an issue, if it snows I'll stop in, I can go tomorrow or getting Nation wide free train travel ( First Class included ) I'll go by train from the station at the end of my garden

Simples...........

The tyres actually feel " Sticky and soft " when cold and they don't half get warm

After a few hot laps round Donington in July they were picking up other people's discarded rubber like an F1 slick tyre. Took a couple of days normal driving to scrub all the extra bits of rubber off. LOL.

interesting, that's what I've got fitted although I run at 32(F) 30(r)  as per skoda fuel cap guide - any reason you're running at 35 all round? is it due to your model ?

For comparison I have my 235/35R19 PS4S set at 2.7bar allround or 38PSI.

18" wheels as on the fuel flap states 2.4 Bar which converts to 35 Psi.

 Set to Skoda's recommended pressures.

ah righto thought as much, but curious to see if you'd been experimenting with tyre pressures and found a nice sweet spot on the ps4's .

agree though they are great tyres

Got a full set on my Mk2 now, make the previous Contis look like they were Nankang or Wan Li!

Just looking at those on Black circles, I was attracted by these however …

Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2
225/40 R18 Y (92)
Car Tyre - Reinforced

£87.14 ea

set of 4 £348.56

but with a flash sale 10% off single tyre £78.42 set of 4 £313.70

These tyres showed 68db noise and decent wet grip and fuel economy. Anyone tried them?

Also out of interest does anyone fit 235/40 for the extra rim protection a bit more rubber offers? They came up a lot more expensive when I looked.

Back in 2016 got 4 P Zero 225/40R18 from Black Circles for £296. Still using these over winter (£74 each).
