CTS temperature and Boost leak fault finding help required

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a vrs and vcds? I’m trying to identify the cause of very poor fuel economy. I think I have ruled out the MAF, the CTS is reporting at around 79 degrees when warmed up? I also suspect a boost leak, that I am trying to identify.

Just wondered if if anyone could tell me what their CTS reading is in VCDS when running warm?

Also any advice finding a vac leak, I’ve already replaced the vac brake booster pipe.

Well, that makes me suspect the thermostat. Can you hold the radiator top hose when the gauge reports the normal position around 98deg? If so, then I'm fairly sure you have a good CTS and a bad thermostat.

If that is the case is it a simple replacement? Something that I can do myself, like the CTS or the MAF? I’m in the roomster at the minute so I can’t check, but I’ll give it a go when I get home, I assume you’re talking about the hose from the top of the rad?

So I did this, I could only keep my hand on the top pipe for a second or 2 tops.

In that case, probably CTS.

Any idea on a part on ecp? There is not a CTS that I can see, but there is a temp sensor rad fan switch, is it the same thing?

No, you're looking in the wrong place, look at engine management sensors in engine parts, check if yours is a two pin or four pin plug.

That's an ECP coc-up that I'm pretty sure I've told them about. They aren't the same thing, it's mislabelled in the listings as radiator fan switch. Those have three pins, CTS has two. I'm pretty sure if you buy one, its a CTS.

I wouldn't buy one from there though.

Genuine ones are pretty affordable on ebay. Usually include the o-ring and securing clip, often from Poland.

If you look at the description it clearly says those fan switches have the triangular plug fitting, ergo they're wrong.

On the other hand if you look at the engine management sensors they're push in 20mm diameter which suggests they are the right thing.

I don't think you (sep) and I are looking at the same page, though I think OP and I may be @dancingbear84 is this the one you're looking at?

I manually input the 1.9 diesel and it didn't show that switch at all

One reason not to use ECP, their website is poor.

Pretty sure every mk1 Fabia uses the same part number (06A919501A) I posted above.

Worth going genuine, IMO.

The local Skoda dealer was 40 for a genuine, I’ll have a hunt around for the part number listed by sep and see what I can find. And yes @Wino that is the one I was looking at
