SD card problems 2017 Bolero

Featured Replies

I listen to a lot of spoken word material in the car, that I load on an SD card and plug in to the Bolero.  There are typically 80-odd MP3 files in a single folder,  Unfortunately they have fairly random names, not obvious things like "Episode x".  This becomes an annoyance when, every so often, the Bolero has a hiccup and forgets where it was when last switched off, so that the next time I fire it up it starts at the track one in the alphabetically first folder, which is neither the file nor the folder I was last listening to.  I then have to navigate back to the correct folder, and then try to remember the name of the file I was listening to previously, and then navigate to the point I last stopped listening to it!

It wouldn't be so bad if the Bolero qould display the track number as well as the track name, but there doesn't seem to be any way to make it do that 😞

Has anyone else experienced this annoyance - and maybe come up with a solution or at least a workaround?

Can you not edit the file names on your computer before you transfer them to the SD card? Don't know if that will work.

All the filenames are prefixed by disc and track number, e.g. "14-23 Underneath the Mango Tree.mp3", but for some reason the Bolero doesn't display them when listing the contents of the folder.  If it did, I'd easily remember the numbers...

That information is in the mp3 files' metadata as well, but there doesn't seem to be any way to persuade the Bolero to share it with the user!

Don't know if it's viable for you but you can concatenate multiple mp3's into a single file very easily using the dos copy command or if you have "Audacity" that will do it as well.
