Battery Terminals

Featured Replies

During one of my (in)frequent visits under the bonnet, I noticed that there is no cover on the +ve battery terminal, but there is on the -ve.

Seemed a little odd that it should be like that.

Just wondering about VAG’s thinking. 🤔

+ve and -ve ... is this something new that I need to be aware of?

+ve abbreviation for positive ( plusness)

-ve = negative.  ( in this case 'earth' or 0v rather thsn negative volts)

If you un-clip the cover does it fit over the +ve terminal where it should be?

Maybe Škoda have gone back to Old School thinking and have changed to +ve earth, but haven't told anyone!

Some models have a top to the insulated (thermal) box that the battery sits in that covers the +ve terminal.  This thread relates to it but has no definitive answer.

Yes, it possibly would. I will have a look at that.

I was just a little bemused as to why it wasn’t there. The car is only 4 months old, so hasn’t been ‘messed with’ to my knowledge.

I think my last Superb was like that.
