PD Additives/Injector cleaners

Featured Replies

Do any exist for the PD engine to clean the injectors/engine internals or are there any performance additives which are ok to us on the PD engine. I remember reading no additives are available for the PD engine due to it's "pump dusse" technology and different way of injection.

I think it's a good idea that all the crap in the engine/exhaust (if possible) gets flushed out now and again.

Advice welcome

With the filters and fuel technology there shouldnt be crap in the injectors.

And as a side note Skoda say NO to any additives unless you have a 2.0 diesel Superb.

Which considering is rather shocking as they charge for the bl*dy stuff during the services. So not only are they charging for it, they are charging for stuff Skoda specifically says you should NOT use.

That said, Forte has a good name for this kinda thing, would that be what a Skoda dealer might use, for example?

Which is called assumptive selling.

However iirc as its not part of the service schedule you have the right to refuse to pay for it if you havent given them authority to use it.

I've just started adding Millers Diesel Power PLus to my fuel. Will probably be a while before I see any benefits. To me though, this isn't a cleaner as I don't feel its dirty - However it may boost the cetane rating a little bit, especially with supermarket diesel, and also improve economy. 1 25ml capful per 25 litre fill-up. 1000:1 dilution and I think I pad a fiver for a 1 litre bottle, actually might be 500ml.

On older engines, this product is also meant to serve as a cleaner too.

The miller dieselclean (now called power plus i think) worked a treat on old diesels I had, but not put anything in to the octy tbh.

Well - now a good three weeks into using this stuff and unless I'm getting my results biased by weather/commute change/whatever, my mpg is shooting upwards. So far I've had a positive RR result of a couple more BHP over Jabba claim, and my mpg has been nicely over 50mpg on several occasions.

Going to see how my MFA2 reads, but instead of usually reading 42mpg for the last couple of thousand miles, its currently reading 44.3, and I'll keep monitoring it to see if my long term starts to go up. With a couple more tankfuls under my belt I should have a good MFA2 readout using just millers power plus (on recommended dosage too - 1 litre diesel to 1ml of power plus)

I used to use this in my Astra Di.

Tis good stuff if you can get hold of it. I managed to get a bottle the other day to see what effect it has in the Furby.

Where from? I'll need a new bottle soon. I only have about enough for about 5 tankfuls now.

The power plus shouldn't be used on a PD, Millars have been trying a new additive for PD, it was due Jan 06 but they havn't launched it yet.

I use unicat 4 from Canada, that is rated for PD engines but the packaging isn't legal in the UK / EU.

Indeed, Mine is a TDi rather than a PD TDI but I also saw that it isn't for PD engines.

Quite right as usual is our Mr Techy man

I know that some dealers do add it and charge for it during servicing, I wonder how you stand with this in the future?

Well they breached your warrenty so they would have to cover that. However say at 5 years old say about 85k miles your engine packs in and skoda say it was caused by you adding an additive. Well there is no warranty there, so I would assume the dealer would be going to court to argue who was stumping up.

Ive run with Millers off and on for about 60k on my TDI PD100, without it less power and less mpg. On long runs holding a steady 75-80mph will return in the region of 54mpg. I tend to to run on BP Ultimate + Millers and its mapped for this. Have got 155bhp on a RR and that wasnt Jabba's!

Jason, I know of a place in Exeter that sells it on the Marsh Barton Ind. Estate, just cant remember the name! Think its down one of the dead ends not far from the VW dealership.

ALS Motor spares. ;) Its where I bought my 10 from (and I get my oil there too). Its just around the corner from aforementioned VW dealer. Its not on a dead end though, its on the main drag, but it did burn down about 3 years ago and they moved to a dead end while it was rebuilt - now they're back in a very smart place indeed (you gotta love insurance ;))

i found just putting 2 tankfuls of bp ultimate diesel through y furby vRS then gone back too esso fuel economy has gone up by 5-8 mpg
