Stop/start & auto handbrake settings

Featured Replies

My L&K 220 has been in the hands of a valet parking company at Heathrow for the past few weeks, and it seems that they’ve been playing with the settings 😕:

  • the drivers seat had been moved and the memory overwritten
  • the automatic handbrake no longer engages - I now have to lift the handbrake switch rather than just depressing the brake further
  • a couple of times when the stop/start has activated, the engine hasn’t come back on when I’ve pressed the throttle - I have to move it back to park and press the ignition button to continue

I can fix the seat position easily, but am not sure where to find settings for the others.

The reason I’m confident that this was down to the valet is that when I dropped the car off, I forgot something and had to go back - when I got to the car, the attendant was sat (almost laying down) in the drivers seat pressing the MMI screen. Needless to say I’ll be taking this up with them.

Thanks, Adam

I reckon I have been the victim of a "settings fiddler" as well after picking my car up from a valet parking company in Dublin over the weekend. My lights aren't functioning as normal and I can't for the life of me put it right!!!!!

Annoying isn’t it! Caught him in the act too, but I assumed he was just having a look or picking a radio station or something - didn’t for a second think actually make changes. I almost rolled my car into one behind when I got home!

I would never let a parking company have my keys.

I think your issue with the handbrake is the auto hold function. Look door the (A) button left of the handbrake button, that should sort it. As for the start/stop issue I’m not too sure. Personally mine has been permanently disabled with VCDS. It’s way too annoying in my opinion, especially on an auto.

The memory function on the seats seats is known to mess about. If it doesn’t store your setting correctly I think the fix is all the way forward then all the way back (or the other way around). Something about the seat having to relearn the limits.

The 2 first issues can be fixed as described above.

But for the S&S not disengageing when pressing the throttle, this is the first time, I read this 😦!
