Hi all,

 

Ive was thinking about getting a 2015/16 vRS TDI DSG, however I've been looking at the VW Passat GT and R Line TDI DSG's. I know this is a Skoda forum but I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the VW Passat and if its worth it over the Octavia as for the year I am looking they are similar price.

It depends what type of driving you do and what you use the car for.

 

The Octavia feels lighter on it's feet, it's firmer and more responsive and has a more practical boot.

 

The Passat is much more refined and much quieter at speed. It feels a more expensive car with better build quality.  But it is significantly heavier and you feel that in a good way in the ride and in a bad way in the handling.

 

Depends what your priorities are. 

The Passat is more directly comparable to a Superb rather than an Octavia, but as mentioned above the Octavia vRS will certainly be the more fun one to drive, but the Passat or Superb will feel noticeably more comfortable, quiet and refined.
