Replacement for Bolero please?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Firstly, I’m an electrical dunderhead. 😉

I’m looking to replace the Bolero in my non FL, 63 plate.

The car does not have Bluetooth.

I’m looking for a replacement that will give me sat nav, Bluetooth, possibly DAB.

I will be asking an auto electrician to fit.

I've seen loads of options on EBay etc, that promise lots but just want something that does the job with too much hassle.

So what’s the options guys? Chinese eBay job, reconditioned Amundsen or something else?

Thanks in advance

😊

Since you admit that you are an electrical dunce I would talk to the expert you intend to use.

Several years ago I had a Mk2 Octavia with a Bolero w/o Bluetooth and I bought a "Chinese" unit to replace it but I found some of the OEM functions were not going to work and also struggled to get firmware updates needed to fix bugs others had found and discussed on here. In the end I sold the unit on without fitting it.

I guess what I am saying is fitting such a  unit is not really that much of a problem, but it might not do everything you expect/want. The units now available may be much better of course.

An OEM Skoda unit should not have these issues, but you need to get round the security issues.

When I was looking there were also "big brand" aftermarket units which would have more support, but they were £££.  Prices might have come down.

As the Yeti is closely related to the Octavia Mk2 it might also be worth searching in that section for a few ideas?
