Chance to buy a Fabia Mk2 1.2 HTP - Exhaust inspection system light on - Fuel quality ?

Featured Replies

Evening all,

We've been offered a Fabia Mk2 1.2HTP with 55k miles for £1500.

The car is in great condition and we know the sellers as they are friends of my parents.

The only "niggle" is that the Exhaust inspection system light is on.  I didn't have my code reader to check it, however they've told me it comes and goes, never into limp mode and generally doesn't come on if non supermarket fuel  is used whereas put in the cheap fuel and it invariably comes on.  My main concern is that i've read how having this light on now means an MOT failure ?

Any thoughts on this ?

Thanks in advance

Richard

Shouldn’t be to difficult to sort though

So you don;t think it sounds anything major ?  What would you suggest first off, getting it scanned for faults etc ?

Always the first step

cheap ebay fault scanner £15 will give you the code

then a quick google of the fault code will give you the diagnosis.

probably something along the lines of faulty lamba / other sensor

Thanks, I'm hacked of as I have over of those code readers but it's lost in the house somewhere!!

I do have a Bluetooth one I'll take with me and download Torque lite to try and get to the bottom of it.

As I said it can't be anything massive as it's never been in limp mode and has been driven happily for an age with it sometimes on and then going off but with mot tests being less forgiving I'd like to get to the bottom of it....
