Can the stop start feature be switched off with VCDS? I find it annoying on the BMW too especially when the battery saving features start the car again a short while later when the AC is on so I have it disabled.

Yes. Take a look in the sticky at the top of this forum.👍

A lot of threads on this subject. It can be turned off with VCD'S

As for the DPF mines regenerates every 150 miles or so without a hitch.

Regeneration gets rid of the soot, but there will be a gradual build-up of ash that stays in the DPF. If I had clocked 140K I would be getting concerned about it.

Yeah I had the ash level checked by my mechanic using the Bluetooth scan tool. DPF is 34% full of ash. My friend has a double shifted Octavia 1.6 tdi that has done 218k and he’s never had a DPF problem. We use the same mechanic and all oil changes are done with good quality low saps oil to VAG standard every 9/10k so this must help.

Routine for me is get in car start it up & switch off the stop start every single time it's  a feature I don't like , if it looks like I will be stopped for some time for example a level crossing then I will switch it on otherwise it remains  switched off.

It can be annoying but as a taxi driver I like it as it avoids all the unnecessary idling that my cars from the past used to do. Helps with the fuel

economy and the DPF.

That's good to know. Looks like DPF will go longer than I was expecting, though probably not so long in the Scout since it uses more diesel.

Using decent fuel helps too.  Although I know another driver who owns a Toledo with the same engine and his DPF and EGR clogged after 90k. He did admit to using crap oil though.
