Unusual buzzing noise at when ignition key is turned

Featured Replies

Have noticed on the vrs, the last few mornings ,a rather odd buzzing noise coming from somewhere in the dash, can't really localise it, but it starts when I first turn the key, remains for a few seconds after I start the car, and then vanishes. The car has never done it before.....any ideas anyone?

Mine makes a squirting sound when I stick the ignition in. I guess its the fuel injecting into the engine or something. Could that be it? Mind you its always made that noise.

PS-It takes absolutely ages to post from a PSP!!

There is the usual noise of the fuel pump priming the fuel system.

It sounds more like a buzzer, rather than the noise associated with the fuel pump, although occuring at the same time. Sort of like an alarm type noise. Could this be faulty?

Might be a motor for the temp flap, try moving the temp control and/or operrate the re circ button.

Its not a warning for low (less than 4C) outside temperature is it? Although I think I've read that is a ding - not a buzz!

Love that sound - very classy :D And it also means its cold and therefore the car will perform better

Mine does it sometimes, think it may be a flap in the ventilator or perhaps the cd slot in the stereo, not sure, but the noise doesn't last for too long!

Seat belt warning chime?

airbag test???

is it the CD Player? one of my old furby vRS's used to do that on start up...

Discovered what it is....the damn CD player....only does it when there isn't a disk inserted at start-up....t'is a recent thing, as she has never done that before. Strange...could the CD player be on the blink? Although it seems to work absolutely fine.

yeah, that was exactly the same problem as mine - got it replaced under warranty no problems mate :) give it a try :)

Same wee noise, always had it (15 months), CD player working fine throughout(assumed it was just the player indexing itself or resetting on power up). If the noise isn't 'normal', what was the exact problem that required it to be replaced?

the reason I had mine replaced was that it never did it, and then all of a sudden, it started doing it... hence my understanding was it was knackered ;)

Skoda agreed :D
