I've been reading through the old topic https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/366637-hood-dampers/ about hood dampers on a Rapid but I'm hesitant about buying them from Aliexpress (eBay throws up a load in Russia/Poland). I'd like to fit a pair (and I know they're not to everyone's taste!) but I'm unsure where to get them from.

 

I've seen these for sale https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/skoda-rapid/gas-strut-of-hood-for-skoda/ and I'm leaning towards them as they're Milotec, but would people say they are over-priced for what they are?

I had hydraulic dampers on my Fiat Multipla and received numerous bumps on my head when the struts let go. I used a stick as a prop in the end and envied owners of the face lifted model which had a stay.
