Fabia 1.4 16v AUB Cambelt Problems?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum as I've only recently aquired the above Skoda.

I'm running around without a radio at the moment so all I've got to listen to is the engine.

The car is a 2002 saloon (yes somebody must have bought one!) and has 22k on the clock, supposedly with a Skoda FSH.

The Engine sounds generally very tappety when cold - this mostly goes away when warm but there is a persistant light knocking / tapping from the cambelt end of the engine. its not that bad but it makes the car feel a bit thrashy.

Is this engine normally quiet?

I've read a bit about the cam rollers breaking up and I wonder if I might have this problem - what do you think?.

The car needs a service anyway and my local audi / vw independant has quoted

Get it checked right away dont delay.

It does effect the AUB and the price seems pretty good.

thought the saloon's had a aua engine ?

Cheers - I read somewhere that vw are now recommending 4 years for cambelts irrespective of mileage so going by that it's about time anyway.

I'm gong by the service book which says AUB somewhere in the front
