SAT NAV HELP PLEASE

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Yet another plea for help.  I have read threads on updating the Amundsen Satnav so I went about doing this on my 66 plate Octavia. I followed the instructions from this site and also the Skoda Update Portal.  My old maps were the original one EC1 2016:020 so I downloaded what I thought to be the latest version of this.  3 different versions later I checked the version on the Amundsen and it says the original version is still there.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks

Gordon

You downloaded the maps, copied them into the SD card and put the card in the machine? That should straight away read as the new maps. Just a thought, does your sat nav work without the SD card in the slot?

Yes, downloaded maps, loaded onto original Skoda SD Disc.  Tried 2018 and 2019/20 versions and they all read as the original.

Sat Nav doesn't work without an SD Card.

If you put the SD card in your computer and open it. Then go "Maps - 00 - NDS - dbinfo" what version does it read there?

To me it looks like the 2019/20 version but I am not sure about the rest of what it says or means:

 ApplicationSoftwareVersionNumber="1115"
PartNumber2="5NA919866H"
PartNumber3="5L0051236AR"
PartNumber4=
"6P0919866AK"
PartNumber5="7CE919866R"
SystemName="ECE1 2019/20"

Well, those are the correct latest maps from the Skoda download centre anyway, so unless your system has not actually updated it's reference on the Amundsen system somehow I'm not sure what the issue might be. Maybe it'll update when the unit boots from cold (like when it's been turned off for overnight).

Thanks for your help.  I was thinking that I chuffed it up.  Hopefully it will do that as you say so I will check it tomorrow or Tuesday.   When I did a search for the version details by pasting it onto google, it took me to a VW site so I guess they use similar systems.   My 62 plate Scirocco needs updating too but the dealership wants £42+ for it so I haven't bothered yet. I now wonder if my Skoda SD Card woudl work in my roc..........

would work.  Finger trouble

That card won't work in a 2012 model mate. Most likely be an RNS315 in the Rocco and a card for that will cost over £100. If it's an RNS510 then it needs a DVD update. Once again dealers proving they know nowt.

Yes, 315 in it.  Bummer really that you have to pay for updates on some cars.  There will be people around who will do a bootleg copy if I need one unless there is a code or something to prevent it.

Thanks again for putting me straight on this stuff.  Every day is a school day with a Skoda.

Just checked it again and the version information on the screen reads:

SHIELD: SHIELD 2016-03(build 020).

I asked at the local dealership this morning and there was not a clue to be had.  Anyone know what this means?

From memory that reads like the download was corrupted somehow, and isn't reading correctly. Did you use a Mac or Windows pc?

Windows,  Did 3 different downloads and they all ended  up the  same.  Kept thinking it is me that is the problem so I will try it a different way.  I downloaded from the update site and extracted straight to the SD Card.  I see others have used 7zip and extracted to their pc before onward to the SD Card.

Did it gain twice, same result.  Smartlink my RS.

Thanks again for keeping an eye on this.

Well, if you like I can sell you a correct SD card with maps installed and take yours in part exchange for a discount.

Thanks.I will give it some thought but I have a couple of other issues that need cash first.  Engine racket and maybe soundproofing the wheel arches/bonnet.  And the hits keep coming........
